Hebridean Escape: the Devonshire Spa’s organic seaweed treatment

Derived from the Gaelic word for water, ishga has been developed on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, creating products using the highest quality of natural ingredients provided by the purest Scottish seaweed.

Combining hand harvested seaweed with natural spring water; the resulting mineral rich extract is then blended with other carefully selected organic ingredients and essential oils to create the seaweed skincare range. Cucumber extract, macadamia, jojoba, aloe vera and lemon peel are some of the many natural ingredients designed to nourish and protect the skin.

Seaweed has been used for centuries for its natural healing and therapeutic properties and is known to contain a balanced combination of vitamins, minerals, trace elements, amino acids, and anti-oxidants that are considered essential for maintaining healthy and youthful skin. We have devised a complete ishga Spa experience incorporating these powerful products, and our exceptional treatments. The 2.5 hour ritual begins with an invigorating full body scrub using Hebridean Sea Salt & Oil Scrub on our heated marble hammam bed. Your therapist will then deliver a detoxifying ishga massage – a medium pressure massage, designed to remove tension from the body, especially the neck, shoulders and back.  The organic seaweed body oil contains lemongrass, juniper, rose and geranium to stimulate blood and lymph circulation, deep clean and increase your skin’s moisture levels and elasticity. You’ll then enjoy a calming ishga facial, which will nourish and repair dry and tired skin. Using a balanced combination of vitamins, minerals, trace elements, amino acids and anti-oxidants that are considered essential for maintaining healthy and youthful skin, you’ll feel brighter and more energised, due to the mineral-rich seaweed combined with natural healing spring water, aloe vera, macadamia nut oil and cucumber extract.
