Summer is finally here and although there may not be too many opportunities to worship the sun as often as we wish to, our divine new Aquae Arnemetiae treatment will allow you to relax and revive using the healing powers of water, leaving you feeling like a goddess in no time.
New to the Devonshire Spa this month is an incredible new therapy was devised by the team to encapsulate the powers of water therapy. Aquae Arnemetiae or ‘the spa of the goddess of the grove’ by Buxton’s first Roman settlers, will take you on a therapeutic journey to a revived and rejuvenated new you as you discover this three-stage experience.
This indulgent therapy uses three bodies of water beginning with Buxton’s very own natural spring water. You’ll start by enjoying an invigorating salt scrub on our heated marble Hamman table to wake up the skin, before your therapist showers away the salt with soothing water massage movements.
With skin glowing from the reviving scrub, you’ll enjoy a gentle massage using oils and aromas inspired by the Mediterranean. You will be asked to choose from Marine Relax, a blend of laveder, patchouli and ylang ylang, a seductive mix reminiscent of a hedonistic Mediterranean sunset, or Marine Vitality, a blend of lemon, lime and mandarin, refreshing and revitalising just like a sunny Mediterranean day – perfect to get you into the mood for an upcoming Summer holiday. With your therapist’s assistance, you will assess which is the correct combination for the remainder of your treatment.
Using specially selected pindas – a combination of warmed healing pillows filled with Thasi herbs, turmeric and camphor – your massage will be performed using gentle pressure techniques to stimulate wave like motions. This will rebalance negative energy which can often contribute to health problems. Following your pinda massage your therapist will perform a Zen Massage. This wonderful technique is a slow and light gliding movement working in unison over the body. It promotes lymphatic drainage and sensory stimulation, and you may even feel the need to nod off here, and that’s perfectly fine…this time is yours!
To complete your journey, take a trip to the Scottish Hebrides and enjoy a nourishing ishga facial using extracts of hand-harvested Scottish seaweed to retain vital minerals, vitamins and amino acids, resulting in a fresher, more youthful complexion.
Prior to your treatment, you can boost the effects of the Aquae Arnemetiae therapy by enjoying an hour’s use of the spa facilities to complete your experience and leave you feeling rested, revived and renewed.
